Jet Cities Chorus: Once Upon a Tune
Once Upon a Tune is a delightful, family-friendly musical event that brings together some of the best barbershop quartets around for a fun and heartwarming show. A reprise of Jet Cities’ 2000 show, Once Upon a Tune follows two characters from that show as they remember special times together. The shows will be full of familiar tunes, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughs, and are a perfect fit for your whole family. With a mix of humor, nostalgia, and skilled vocal performances, the show is sure to resonate with viewers of all ages.
Jet Cities Chorus: Jet Cities Chorus members are from all walks of life, of all ages, and from all over the Seattle/Tacoma Metropolitan area. Some are semi-professional musicians–and some last sang in their high school choir–but they all love to sing and perform! The chorus was founded on July 3, 1962 and is a chartered chorus of Sweet Adelines International. The group competes annually with other choruses in their local region, which adds a challenge to their musical journey. In 2024’s contest, the chorus finished in first place overall, as well as garnering a 1st Place Small Chorus, plus a Most Improved medal. Because of that win, Jet Cities will be participants in Sweet Adeline’s international contest, to be held in Columbus, OH in October of 2025.
Special guests include:
- The Newfangled Four; the 2024 Barbershop Harmony Society’s 5th place quartet: These four talented men hail from Southern California, and are known for their creative arrangements and playful performances. However, it’s their singing skills that have earned them numerous honors and high placements, as well as nearly 4000 Facebook fans.
- Rhapsody, the 2024 North by Northwest Region 13’s 1st place quartet: Four months after forming, Rhapsody Quartet took home first place honors at their regional competition. Exuding confidence and polish, these women are known for their flawless harmonies and stage presence, and are all talented individuals in their own right. The group’s tenor directs Jet Cities Chorus.
- Touchstone, the 2024 North by Northwest Region 13’s 4th place quartet: In addition to this year’s placement, in 2023 these women placed second in the Diamond Division Contest put on by Sweet Adelines International for quartets aged 55+. With a wonderful blend and a wide repertoire, they’re always an audience favorite.
- Hot Notes, the Evergreen District’s 6th place quartet: This mixed quartet is quickly gaining attention throughout the South Sound area with their smooth singing, infectious energy, and sassy style. You’ll love their silly…and sultry…side.
- Sea to Sea Quartet: This quartet has only been together since February, though they are longtime friends. They are singing together to help raise funds for a musical overseas adventure in England in 2025, so come hear them while you can.
